Carrick-Anderson and Inglis Reign Supreme at Rain-Soaked Tong

Round 3 of the British Cycling National XC Series headed to Tong, Bradford for what proved to be a weekend of contrasting conditions and compelling racing. Saturday's action was played out in heavy rain that left the course saturated and treacherous underfoot, but by Sunday morning the technical rock-laden circuit had dried considerably.

Elite Open

Corran Carrick-Anderson (Peebles CC) delivered a commanding performance across seven laps to take the Elite Open victory in 1:25:18, keeping the pressure on at the front of the series standings.

Cameron Orr (Hope Tech Factory Racing) pushed him all the way, crossing the line just 23 seconds back after a race-long battle that kept the lead group honest throughout. Innes McDonald (Scotia Offroad Race Team) rounded out the podium in third at 1:37 behind, with Max Greensill (Hope Factory Racing) a further 38 seconds adrift in fourth.

Elite Female

Grace Inglis (Team HUP) took the win in 1:25:57, but Bethany-Ann Jackson (Pine Sport) wasn't far behind, crossing the line just 18 seconds later in what was a superb contest from start to finish.

Evie Strachan (RR23 - runandride.co.uk) came home third at 3:32, with Daisy Taylor (The Hera Project) fourth and Caoimhe May fifth to complete the top five finishers on the lead lap.

Junior Open

If the Elite Female race was close, the Junior Open delivered something even more dramatic. Luke Trafford (Shibden Cycling Club) and Arthur Limb (Harrogate Nova Race Team) were inseparable across five laps, finishing in 1:02:25.9 and 1:02:26.0 respectively - a gap of just one tenth of a second after over an hour of racing on a demanding, rocky circuit.

Ryan Daly (SCOTT Alpha Theta) finished third at 1:35, with Gus Lawson (Pedal Power RT) fourth and Joseph Wooliscroft (Shibden CC) fifth - a strong day for Shibden who placed two riders in the top five on home turf.

Junior Female

Zoe Blyth (Scotia Offroad Race Team) was in a class of her own in the Junior Female race, taking a convincing win over four laps in 1:22:17. Isabelle Dalgleish (Cog Set Papyrus Racing Club) finished second at 7:39, with Nicole Anderson (Grity Race Team) third at 12:10.
