Lloyds National XC Series Round 3 Heads To Tong

The British National XC Series heads to Tong, Bradford this Saturday for Round 3 - and with wet weather forecast, it could be the muddiest race of the season so far.

Tong is one of the most technical venues on the British XC calendar. Tight, rooted woodland singletrack that punishes mistakes and rewards smooth, consistent riding. In the wet it becomes a very different beast - expect slippery descents, heavy mud and plenty of mechanicals.

Standings heading into Round 3

Max Greensill leads the Elite Open on 350 points after winning Round 1 at Plymouth, with Jason Bouttell second on 290. The Elite Women's race is tight - Bethany-Ann Jackson leads Evie Strachan by just 10 points. In Junior Open, Luke Trafford holds a narrow advantage over Gus Lawson, while Iris Gray leads the Junior Women ahead of Heidi Roscoe.

Tong delivers its trademark technical challenge — rooty, steep and unforgiving — with some mud in the mix for good measure. It's refreshing to see a course of this difficulty on the national circuit, one that wouldn't look out of place on the Swiss Bike Cup calendar.
